Triangle transit projects get $23M in stimulus funds - Memphis Business Journal:

Beverly Perdue announced that $103 million has been allocated for transitrprojects Statewide. Twenty-one urban transit systems will receiv morethan $70 million for 77 projects. The larges t allocation, at $20.8 million, goes to Charlotts Area Transit System's North Davidson Street bus Projects in rural areas acrosse the state totaled morethan $33 Government officials estimate the projects will create or retain more than 3,20p jobs.
Besides the CAT facility, Trianglew projects receiving stimulus money includrthe following: • Durham Area Transit Authority will receivd $4.3 million for projects including paratransit vehicle replacements and maintenance, bus repainting and bus GPS • Triangle Transit will receive $3.7 million for projectse including a vanpool expansion, vehicld locator systems, replacement buses, preventative maintenance and an expansion of the parkinf lot at the Nelson Road facility; Durham County Access will receives $39,075 that will be used to buy threer lift-equipped vans and also to hire a full-time mobility • Chapel Hill Transit will receive $2.
7 millio n for projects including replacement buseds and paratransit vehicles, preventative maintenance and computer technologty hardware and software; • Orange Public Transportation will receive about $550,000 for replacemenft transit vehicles; • Cary/C-Tran will receive $95,000 for bus shelters and benches • Wake Coordinated Transportation Servic will receive $84,420 for six lift-equippede replacement vans.
