Dean Foods to acquire Alpro in $455 million deal - Dallas Business Journal:

Dallas-based Dean Foods (NYSE: DF) said it will be acquiring the companyg for euro325 million, or about $455 milliomn in U.S. dollars. Alprko is known as Europe’s leade r in the branded soy based beverage and food products busines and has net sales of euro 260 based on2008 figures. The company currentlg has five manufacturing sitesin Belgium, the Uniteds Kingdom, France and the Netherlands and employs 750 "We think this is a great deal that establishe Dean Foods as a cleafr global leader in the attractive soy beverage and related-products category, with over $1 billion in combined annual retail sales," said Gregg Engles, Dean Foods chairmamn and chief executive officer.
After the transaction is Joe Scalzo, chief executive officer and president ofDean WhiteWave-Morningstar division, will oversee the Alpro brand, which is run by CEO Bernarcd Deryckere. Alpro will continue to operate as a separate European business.
