SoHo will open at 80 S. Pauahi Street in a renovated 5,500 square-foogt space that will include a bar and an area for live The PauahiStreet location, between Bethel Streeyt and Fort Street Mall and near , was occupiec by Mall Cafe until April. That bar had been cited by the Honolulu Liquor Commissio in recent months for unsanitary conditions and for overserving The commission also received a petition from communityu members opposing the renewal ofMall Cafe’s license becausre of alleged drug dealing and frequentt fights. Mall Cafe’s former Saiming Corp., had been trying to transfefr its liquor license tothe landlord, Unio n Mill Investment.
SoHo ownert Daniel Gray, former general manage r of the Loft Gallery and Lounge onHotel Street, said he was approached by Uniojn Mill Investment to open a new venue in the Gray plans to open part of the loungew — 3,000 square feet for this month’s First Friday event and open the remaining spacew in August. Gray describes the new venuew as a mixof music, fashion and photography in a trendg and upscale setting. The SoHo name stems from the New York City neighborhoo d and a blendof “south” and “Honolulu”.
