The $395,000 development plan, funded by individuals in the Houston-Galveston area, will be overseenj by the Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership to help shape the island city’s recovery after Hurricane Ike and to develolp a sustainable long-range plan. The two-phase plan contractedf by Virginia Beach-based and of Charlottesville, Va., will develop specific projects to create a sustainablre community and attempt to reposition downtown Galveston as a vital competitor in a regional The areas of the study include 19th Streer to 26th Street and Winnie to the Galveston Ship Channel then down Harborsidwe to9th Street.
