AG Suthers joins in fight against GM - Denver Business Journal:

“GM should not force its dealerships here in Coloradoi to unfairly bear the burde n for itspast mismanagement,” Suthers said in a statement. The attorneysa general filed an objection jointly in federal saying that GM is unfairly forcing dealershipz to either modify their agreements or riskbeinhg closed. Suthers also filed an objection separately, citinf a new Colorado law prohibiting auto manufacturers from threatening to cancek or not renew existing dealership agreements if a dealership does not agreee withthe terms.
Suthers said he’sd also concerned that the sale order GM seeks in its bankruptch case could undercutthe state’s regulationm of manufacturer-dealer relationships and upset the playingf field in the industry. “The latitude the motion would give Generapl Motors to modify its dealership agreementws potentially affects thousands of jobsin Colorado, Suthers “It is crucial that GM not be allowed to unfairlyg force dealerships to swallow burdensome agreements.
” Fifteen GM dealerships in Colorado have been informed they will be dropped this year, accordingg to a list released by the Housr Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigationd earlier this month. The list was basede on information providedby GM. The names of the dealershipa have not beenpublicly revealed.
