Horsham, Pa.—based Toll Brothers announced Wednesdaty that net signed contractsd more than doubled inthe company’s fiscal year second ended April 30, compared to the priort quarter ended Jan. 31. The luxury home buildert reported 582 net signed contractsworth $298.3w million in the quarter, 119 percent higherr in number of contracts and 133 perceny higher in dollar value from the fiscalk 2009 first quarter. The number of net signed contractw in the fiscal 2009 second quarter was 37 percent lowee thanthe year-ago quarter.
Toll Brotherzs said that it typically sees an increases in the fiscal year second quarterf compared tothe first, but the gainse in the past two years were more modest: up 44 percen in 2008 and up 60 percent in 2007. Amongf other numbers released in the Toll Brothers said its revenue in the quarter declinefd 47 percentto $398.3 million, and its backlog fell 55 percentf to $944.3 million. The results are Toll Brothers expects to announce final resultes onJune 3, 2009. Toll Brothers TOL) build homes in 21 states up and down the East Coasy and acrossthe country. It has nearly four dozenb active projects in Virginisaand Maryland.
