Energy Department awards Texas a new round of stimulus funds - San Antonio Business Journal:

The funds will be used to increase energyh efficiency and expand the use of renewabler energy in the public while also providing information resources to help residentsachieve energy, emissionx and cost savings. As part of the Energyg Department’s Stimulus Weatherization Program, Texas will receive $130.8 million over the next threw years to helpweatherize homes. The money will be funneledx through the Texas Department of Housint andCommunity Affairs. Texas also will receivse $87.5 million in stimulus funding that can be used towarc demonstration projectsfor solar, wind, biomass and geothermao energy technologies.
A separate program will make stimuluss funds available for hospitals and other public entities to modernizde traffic signals and facilitater the wider deployment ofalternative U.S. Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, D-San Antonio, says this fundinyg will help create jobs and accelerats the adoption of efficient and renewableenergy “This funding will help move Texazs towards a clean energy future and enhance our while keeping costs low for the hard working familiesz in our communities,” Gonzalez says.
